Study In Germany | Application Procedure

MS in Germany

The application procedure in German universities is quite different when compared to U.S./Canadian universities. While getting it’s really easy to get in some obscure U.S. university, the same is not applicable for German universities. For example, most German universities will ask for your ECTS grade point. Well, I have created a simple to calculate just the same. Use it at your own risk here: ECTS Converter.

    Hello,
My Bachelors ( Mechanical engineering ) percentage are 66.63 …
Can I get any German University for MS ??

    • Debojyoti Das

The percentage is quite low if good German universities like RWTH are to be considered. You may want to look at the newer ones like the one in Rhine-Waal and all. However, if you have sufficient industry experience, this may not be a problem.
      Best of luck!

hey, do we need to convert our Indian score to ECTS format from some organization/institution or we can do it ourselves by finding some tool online.

Debojyoti, Can u suggest me opening blocked account in Kotak mahindra bnk is worth or opening blocked account in Db bank in Germany. I have short of time. Visa date is scheduled on july last week

    • Debojyoti Das

See, my personal experience says that if you are Eastern India, no Kotak Mahindra bank there offers this facility. It’s best to open a DB account as you will need it either way and opening online and sending docs from India is a much more faster process than doing it inland.
I have a tip for you, just send the documents and after maybe 7 days send them an enquiry about your account(using their form online). You will receive account details almost immediately after that.
Btw, why did you wait so long to open an account?

Hello, my bachelors percentage was 61 and i will be applying with an experience of 2 years. Is it good enough to get into a decent univ for MS in MIS?

    • Debojyoti Das

I don’t know what MIS is but I think your grade is really low to even get in a obscure non-state funded college. There is no good or bad colleges here, the educational institutions here are embodiment of extremely competitive academic environment. Plus, you should do your own research on what are your options here as well as back in India after you complete masters. Jobs are tricky and you low grade will be a bottleneck.
      Best of luck.

My Engineering (ECE) percentage is 63.. I have one year work experience. Can i do MS in Embedded Systems in Germany??

    • Debojyoti Das

My take is that your GPA is too low to get in any proper college. While you may still have chances in prep or obscure colleges, it will be an useless investment of time and money. Go for the states, with umpteen 2nd and 3rd tier colleges, you will have better luck.

hey, my engineering percentage is 73 and i am still in final year mechanical branch, do i hav a chance to get into a good university in germany, sweden or netherland??

Unless you are uber rich (in that case, why are you even studying :P), you can’t afford any country outside Germany. Also, just GPA doesn’t count. Read my other posts, see how you can increase your chances.
      Best of luck.

Yeah, but 85% above is generally recommended for the more famous institutions.

Your undergraduate score is extremely low. You will have a hard time getting in any university, leave alone good. Try US private colleges, there you may have a good chance.
